We create space for changemakers.

The Brenn Foundation exists to create space–physically, mentally, and financially–for change makers to invest in themselves and their communities.

Through thoughtful engagement, we aim to reduce systemic inequities and defend democracy writ large.

We believe that conversation, artistic creation, and cultural progress go hand-in-hand. Our unique meeting and retreat center’s rich history includes facilitating activities of U.S. Presidents, emerging nonprofits, and award-winning authors and artists. Learn more >>

We manage and maintain the famed Musgrove Retreat Center.

The Musgrove Retreat and Conference Center, under the stewardship of The Brenn Foundation, is a picturesque hidden sanctuary on the banks of Village Creek, Georgia, that takes you back in time.

Musgrove hosted President Carter’s first pre-inaugural cabinet meeting, and has been a space for progress and conversation since.

Our Priority Impact Areas

  • Environmental Justice & Protection

  • Income, Food, & Health Equality

  • Defending Democracy

  • Racial & Gender Equity

  • “Foundations need to be experimental. They need to take risks… and face some of the more critical and controversial issues. We must be prepared to venture into areas of uncertainty if we are to remain a vital instrument in the field of philanthropy”

    Nancy Susan Reynolds

  • “The peace and solitude of Musgrove gave us the much-needed break from the heaviness of our work and the space to truly reconnect, while the history of the land reminded us that renewal and reflection are vital to healing and advocacy.”

Tanika Nicholas, Justice Reform Partner Strategist at Southern Center for Human Rights

  • Our retreat at Musgrove was transformative. The natural beauty of the setting, paired with thoughtful spaces for reflection and connection, created the perfect environment for both rest and inspiration. The peaceful grounds allowed us to step away from daily demands and return renewed, focused, and deeply connected. The time was a gift we rarely get. Our team also took the opportunity to go on a local tour to ensure we were also proximate to the community.
